The faith in Thousand-Hand Thousand-Eye Avalokitesvara emphasizes the Bodhisattva’s vast compassion, unobstructed perception, and innumerable skillful means in saving sentient beings. Related scriptures and dharanis circulated widely after the Tang dynasty, and the translation corpus associated with Amoghavajra particularly reflects the influence of Esoteric Buddhist ritual procedures, mantra recitation, and deity visualization in East Asian Buddhism. This item is identified as a Ming dynasty manuscript and painted edition in gold pigment, in four volumes, attributed to a translation by the Tang Tripitaka master Amoghavajra. Its gold-pigment calligraphy and painted format make it not only a scripture-mantra text, but also a Buddhist art resource with strong devotional and offering functions.
